Robert H. Tyler, General Counsel

Since passing the California Bar in 1995, Robert has practiced constitutional law and has been instrumental in the furtherance of religious liberty through the prosecution and defense of numerous religious liberty lawsuits. In 2002, Robert was commissioned to open Alliance Defense Fund's (ADF) first regional office.

Prior to his work for ADF, Robert spent seven years as the managing partner of a private law firm in Temecula, California. Robert has also served as an adjunct professor for the University of Redlands where he taught Business Law for its MBA program. In 2005, he followed his passion and opened Advocates for Faith and Freedom.

Robert received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton, in 1990.

Robert has been featured in American Lawyer and has been published in The Daily Journal, as well as a number of other national media. On numerous occasions, Robert has been called on to comment and be interviewed by local, national, and international media outlets. He has been a featured guest on Fox News, MSNBC, TBN, and PBS.

Jennifer L. Monk, Associate General Counsel

Jennifer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pepperdine University with a Juris Doctorate degree in law and a master's degree in public policy in 2006. She performed her undergraduate work at Gordon College in Boston where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. While finishing her law degree, Jennifer earned numerous awards for academic achievement, excellence in moot court competitions, and brief writing. During this time, she also externed for a United States District Court judge for the Central District of California and later clerked for ADF and Robert Tyler.

Jennifer played an instrumental role in the founding of Advocates and has chosen to follow her passion into constitutional law. She now serves as Associate General Counsel at Advocates.

Jennifer has been published in The Daily Journal and has been called upon for comment by numerous local and national media outlets, including Fox News, The Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times.

Harold Coleman, Jr. ESQ.

Harold Coleman, Jr. is 'Of Counsel' to Advocates for Faith & Freedom, where he assists the firm with legal projects having significant public policy implications. His principal areas of expertise include creative problem solving and early resolution of complex disputes, pre-litigation dispute prevention, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and transactional/advisory counsel services. Harold comes to Advocates with over 20 years of diverse legal and ADR experience, having formerly been a name partner of Gaglione, Coleman & Greene, LLP, a San Diego civil litigation firm, and earlier associated with the San Diego firm of McInnis, Fitzgerald, Rees, Sharkey & McIntyre, APC, where, as senior litigation associate, his practice focused on complex technical litigation and ADR. Harold is Advocates' resident counsel of the firm's San Diego County office.

Harold has a passion for problem solving and peacemaking through his integration of law and faith. A credentialed commercial arbitrator and mediator, Harold is an ADR panelist with the Superior Court of California's Civil Mediation Program and the American Arbitration Association's Large & Complex Case panel for commercial disputes. In his role of neutral, Harold has served the international business and legal communities since 1987 in resolving complex litigated and non-litigated disputes through innovative ADR applications of interest-based negotiation, facilitation, mediation, independent fact-finding, early neutral evaluation, and binding arbitration. Harold views ADR not only as a pragmatic vehicle for resolving legal disputes, but also as a creative tool for reconciling relationships. He frequently conducts professional development workshops for newly credentialed arbitrators and mediators in arbitration case management, arbitrator continuing education, arbitration advocacy, mediation skills, mediation advocacy, mediation skills, and conflict management. Harold's ADR corporate clientele has included The Boeing Company, the global aerospace leader, where Harold served the enterprise nationwide as ADR consultant and workplace mediation trainer.

Harold is a member of several nonprofit organizations devoted to sharing the gospel, defending religious liberties and engaging the culture, including the Christian Legal Society, Salt & Light Council of San Diego, Peacemaker Ministries, Strategic Forum of San Diego, and others. He has received formal training of Peacemakers Ministries in conflict coaching and transformative mediation. He actively promotes Christian Conciliation and trains church leaders in techniques for resolving conflict in a biblically faithful manner. Among other honors and awards, Harold was recognized by the State Bar of California in 2000 with its "Distinguished Service to the Legal Profession" citation. In 2009 Harold was inducted as Fellow of the prestigious national College of Commercial Arbitrators, comprised of some of the most esteemed neutrals in the industry. In 2011, Harold was appointed to the national board of directors of the American Arbitration Association. Harold is a 1984 graduate of San Diego's Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
