President Obama Halts the Defense of Marriage

in Advocates in Action, Blog, Marriage 0 Comments

Last week, President Obama instructed the US Attorney General and the Department of Justice to stop defending the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which was first signed into law by President Clinton in 1996.

In a country in which 30 states have upheld the constitutionality of DOMA and have defined marriage as between one man and one woman, it is a travesty that our leader will not pursue this on a federal level.  He has a duty to uphold the will of the people, and a majority of our nation has voiced their support of the traditional definition of marriage.

Please pray for the continued defense of marriage in our nation. As mentioned earlier, Advocates is devoted to upholding the voice of the voters and is hard at work defending marriage in California despite the fact that the government officials are not defending marriage as they are required to do.
